The “Science on Our Minds Series”: Collection of short research focused fact sheets originally developed for the White House Conference on Mental Health. The section on Neuroscience Advances focuses on the brain’s connection to mental health. This site also has many other articles/studies about the brain’s connection to mental health and information on all areas of mental illness. The Fact Sheets are informative and understandable.

Mental Health: A Report of the Surgeon General
This report is the product of a collaboration between SAMHSA and NIH. It was presented in 1999 at the first White House Conference on Mental Health and emphasizes the importance the continuing need to generate needed knowledge about the brain and behavior and to translate this knowledge to the service systems, providers, and public. Chapter 2 of this report focuses on the neuroscience of mental health.

The “Chemical Imbalance” in Mental Health Problems
This article was written by Dr. Joseph Carver, a clinical psychologist. The article focuses chemical imbalances and their role in different mental illnesses.
