NAMI QUEENS/NASSAU MEMBER FEATURED ON LIVETIME TV SHOW

|
Fifty eight million Americans suffer from some form of mental illness, yet fewer than one third of adults and one half of children ever receive treatment. Families says part of the reason for not receiving treatment is the stigma and shame.
Lifetime TV’s Health Corner, hosted by Joan Lunden, highlighted NAMI Q/N member, Lorraine Kaplan's story, in a video segment called Breaking the Silence. Kaplan co-authored a set of school lesson plans by the same name to help advocate for mental illness awareness after her own family's experience with silence and shame.
