Programs



NAMI-NYS offers an array of education and training programs to members as well as the general public. Learn more about NAMI-NYS’s education programs:

  • Family-to-Family
    A free 12-week course for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses.
  • Peer-to-Peer
    For any person with a mental illness, this course contains individual relapse prevention planning, a debriefing/storytelling week, and an advance directive for psychiatric care.
  • Criminal Justice Program
    The NAMI-NYS Criminal Justice Program provides direct assistance to families when a family member with mental illness encounters the criminal justice system. Consultation, supportive assistance and direct intervention services are provided when a family member is arrested, faces court action or is incarcerated in a state or local correctional facility.
  • Breaking the Silence Lesson Plans
    Innovative lesson plans, posters, and games for teaching students grades 4-12 about mental illness.
  • In Our Own Voice: Living with Mental Illness is a recovery, education presentation given by trained consumer presenters for other consumers, family members, friends, professionals, students of all academic levels, and lay audiences.
